Getting into Tekken

On January 2024, I bought my first fighting game in quite some time. Tekken 8. The last "fighting game" I played, casually and competitively, was Super Smash Bros Ultimate. I bought the game out of genuine curiousity, and also just wanting more games for my Ps5. I also was aware I hadn't played a fighting game in years, and missed the learning curve that came with it. Before I even got the game, I found a demo of it at my local bar arcade and tried a few characters out. If I remember correctly, it was Nina and Victor. I found the gameplay fun enough, so I pulled the trigger and bought it a few days later.

The first thing I did was play through the Story mode and a few character stories as well, to find out who I would try to learn as my first character. After going through everyone's moveset, I realized that I most of the characters required certain move inputs (Quarter-Circles, Dragon Inputs, etc) that would be far too difficult to try on my regular ps5 controller. So I went with trying out characters that had no inputs like that at all. That left me with two characters at the time: Victor, Asuka, and Jun. I tried Victor first and felt he was fun for a moment. I tried a few modes with him, but I ultimately wanted to keep trying other characters before I settled with someone. I started playing as Jun next, and after using her and learning a bit more about her lore in relation to the story, it was a pretty easy decision.

A Quick Biography

Jun Kazama made her debut in Tekken 2, 30 years ago as of writing this. She worked as a wildlife surveillance officer at the time and at this point was already well-versed in Kazama Style Traditional Martial Art (Incorporates traditional Japanese Jujutsu). She learned this style of fighting from her family, on the island of Yakushima (A stage in tekken 8, also used as the background of this shrine).

She entered the King of Iron Fist Tournament 2 in an effort to arrest Kazuya Mishima (One of the main characters of the "story"). She sensed a mysterious power in him though, and grew to learn more about him. They both grew found of each other, finding similarities in there powers and had a child together, The second main character of the series, Jin Kazama. Unfortunately, around this time Kazuya "dies" by the hands of his father, leaving Jun to raise Jin alone.

They both lived in the mountains of Yakushima, teaching him Kazama Style Martial Arts as he grew up. As his 15th Birthday approached, Jun felt an evil presense looming over them both. She warned Jin that if anything were to happen to her, to leave and seek out Heihachi Mishima (The father of Kazuya Mishima...the one that killed him. The story is something else). On the day of Jin's 15th Birthday, the figure known as Ogre (They seek out the strongest fighters and defeats them to obsorb their abilities), comes to their home and attacks them both. Jin was knocked unconcious, and Jun led Orge to the family sanctum. Drawing on its powers, Jun was able to defeat ogre, but was still heavily wounded after the fight. She layed upon the ancient alter, and fell into a deep sleep.

Now, all of that happened around Tekken 2. Since then, almost everything that's happened with Jun has been either non-canon or just small visions and flashbacks. For tekken 8, she still plays a small yet important role in the story. She is shown to have finally awaken from her decades-long sleep after sensing her son, jin, in great trouble against kazuya mishima (yea, he came to life after the whole murdered by his dad thing. His dad is back too by the way. for the 4th time so far. Here's a video if you want the full rundown on this whole tekken lore by the way.) She sends a bird made of light to jin to project a vision to him. She reminds Jin of the power that the kazama family holds, giving him the resolve to live and protect those he loves (its super cheesy, but really cool in-game). He fights his father and ultimately wins, leaving him unconcious on the ground. Jun is shown walking up to his body after the credits, teasing her reunion with him for a future installment.

Above are all of my current customs that I've created. I've made way too many outfits to recall, but these are the one's that I keep in my rotation whenever I'm about to play a few matches. You can click each link below to take you to the high quality screenshot. Yep. No Dithering. Very rare, I know.
